Healing:

Grief Groups

Here at Hope's House, we provide a safe place for kids and families to come together to talk about grief, heal and learn valuable coping skills. We do this through group interactions, art therapy, education, journaling, mindfulness and much more. Family group nights are currently being run on our Facebook page.

Each month we lead a grief activity, talk about book recommendations, and connect with each other.

Learn how to bring our kids Grief Groups into your school district in 2023. We have a training program we offer for staff.

Where do I turn?

Most people do not know where to even turn after the death of a loved one. Check out our resources page, or contact us for a tailored list just for you. Some people prefer in person groups, others like to read books, watch videos or listen to podcasts. There is a wide range of resources out there for adults, teens and kids; the trouble for some people is finding them. So we put all of our favorite grief resources in one place. We have personally reviewed each one. All of the books listed have been read and recommended by our grief facilitators, or families and kids that have attended Hope’s House.

Grief Cards for Kids

Grief Cards for Kids

When a loved one dies, it's often hard to know how to cope, what to do, and how to continue living without them in our lives. The Happy Apricot has partnered with Gina Peotter, a Grief Support Specialist, to curate this set of Calm Cards.

Each design was chosen for its calming qualities as well as different ways to work through grief. The Calm Cards for Grief Set comes with a FREE DOWNLOAD.

This download includes:

• A guided moment of calm
• Activities that include links, book recommendations, and video recommendations
• A suggested topic to focus on while using the card

Monthly Book Recommendation

Each month we will update this section with a new recommendation. This month Kiley, age 11 and Leo, age 11 months recommend the book, “Sheets” by Brenna Thummler. She said it’s a really, really good book that she encourages everyone to read. It is in comic book style instead of your regular novel format.

Check out other book recommendations on our Kid’s Books page or Resources page.
